Horrible! Wait at least an hour in the lobby past your apointment time and then another 25 to 45 minutes in the chair before you are ever seen. Staff has a bad attitude and when I complained to the doctor he didn't even attempt to apologize but said its because of the cost of healthcare. Wtf!?!

My Experience: Crown

Duration: packed lobby, you wait at least an hour past your apointment. Everyone has attitudes. Find another dentist that will appreciate your business!!

He did NOTHING!!! I made set appointment for cleaning, xray,, and exam. After an hour+ past my appointment time, I was told that I had to make another appointment for cleaning and could not have my teeth cleaned even tho I had appointment for that!! Why?? Because Dr wanted to "upsell" me to charge me more for dental cleaning. I temporarily have HMO dental. Teeth cleaning is FREE for me and he subscribes to Safeguard. He made it clear that the HMO only reimburses him $3 for my teeth cleaning so I had to pick a dental cleaning and the cheapest offered was $145-!!! Outrageous!! The whole visit was completely insulting!! He treats HMO patients like crap cause he wants more money. By the end of the year I will have better dental insurance and could have been a long term patient (+ my son!) but he lost us both. The guy also made a derogatory comment about me to the hygienist which I guess he thought I could no hear him. Jerk.

About Front Desk: NO front desk staff!!! When you call in, your call goes to a call center!!! Yes, really!! No receptionist to greet you! I literally walked left the reception room and walked thru the offices looking for someone!!! My appointment was over an HOUR LATE with no receptionist to keep me appraised of the timing!

The work done on my teeth was sent in to the insurance co on the wrong tooth. I have called several times and they will not send the correction in to the insurance co. I therefore had to pay out of my pocket for the work done on one of my teeth. Going to this dentist was a nightmare.

If you want one dentist to do all work, don't go to this dentist. Becareful on how they will over charge and never refund any credits back to patient until the patient review it with their EOBs. He doesn't listen to patient well and mis-diagnosed it and charge the patient anyway. Never consider about inconveniencing the patient when there is root canal work involved because he doesn't do it, but he will send you to his partner at another office, thus charging more consultation fee since they will try to split the work into multiple days with less dependable temporary filling (come out same day but cannot fix it within a few days causing infection). The office will disregard patient comment prior to services. Endodontist office (PV Dental Arts) do not have receptionist, thus you end up waiting more than 45 min without any response until patient made noise toward inside of the office even with an appointment. You can leave messages at that office, no one will call back. Even if you get to talk to a person by keep calling, they will deny any messages you left including the endodontist. Need major communication improvement with patients & pharmacies. I am now have to re-think if I see a dental office name with DENTAL ARTS!

About Hygienist: Dr. Sutherland's office in Torrance Dental Arts has the greatest hygienist (Vision). That is the only positive about this office. But watch out for services they provide without informing patient of non-covered services or inform patient of non-covered services before doing it.

Went to Dr. Sutherland and he told me I had 5 cavities that needed to be filled asap. Considering the fact that I had been getting dental checkups my whole life and rarely had cavities, I got a second and third opinion. No other dentists I have gone to since then think I have any cavities. This is very alarming!!
