The offices and rooms are somewhat modern and clean and Dr. Herman himself is an amiable Dr who puts you a bit at ease with his demeanor. The hygenist is rough, but Herman himself is knowledgable and I have been going to them for several years. Generally, the desk people are fairly rude, but for me, I'm not there to be their friends... as long as the Dr is thorough and friendly, which he is.

i was first told that i could not make an appointment until i had a confirmation from my insurance company. when i finally did 3 weeks later and called to make an appointment, they didn't even ask for what they'd they needed after all. had the receptionist given me the correct information and i made an appointment the first time when i called, i probably didn't have to wait for 2 months for a first time check-up and cleaning. that's just too long.

The doctor had good chair-side manners. He was very helpful in answering my questions and addressing my concerns. The dental office is very clean and recently renovated. Front desk was cordial and was knowledgeable about what is covered under my dental plan.

Both my husband and I went to Dr. Herman's office for root canals and crowns about a year ago. We were unhappy with the quality of the materials used and there were problems with the insurance. Dr. Herman never submitted any claims to the insurance and charged us full amounts for everything. When I questioned the office manager about it, she stated that they have an arrangement with the insurance company and charge the patient a discounted price and do not submit anything to the insurance. When I called Aetna, they were surprised to hear that. I believe that Dr. Herman ordered crowns from some cheap material for both of us because the crowns have metal strips in the back. Dr. Herman never explained that to us and never asked us if that's O.K. My husband recently went to another dentist and got another crown without a metal strip. Additionally, I did check Dr. Herman's record and with the NY State Department of Education and his license was suspended in the past. You can see for yourself at http://www.op.nysed.gov/rasearch.htm We will never go to this office again.
