I have been Dr. Sweeney's patient for more than twenty years. I am deathly afraid of dentists; not Mark Sweeney. He is always sensitive to my absolute fear, has never hurt me, and is always laughing and smiling. His work is superior. I lived in Austin for a time; later I traveled to Austin to continue as Mark's patient. For decades. He is that good. I recommend him to anyone who needs a fantastic dentist.

I know this doctor: more than two decades

I am a retired cosmetic dentist from Palm Desert, CA. I have trained well over 100 dentists in cosmetic dentistry. I met Dr Sweeney at a dental meeting here in the desert 10 or 12 years ago where I gave a presentation. We have been best friends ever since. Mark is much more than an excellent dentist. My wife's 20 year old full mouth restoration was due to be refreshed. Of all the great dentists that I know, Mark was my choice to do Dorothy's full mouth reconstruction. Mark is far more than an excellent dentist. He and his wife Julie have created and exceptional dental practice that is second to none.

The main problem I had was at check out. My insurance covers 100% of any routine maintenance, like the cleaning I just had. However, I was told to pay $109.00, and when I questioned the payment I was given a very confusing tour through 5 sheets of paper (some of which I was told to sign), each with numbers, dollar amounts, payment plans, and unwanted treatment that my carrier does not cover. This served to only deepen the misunderstanding. In the end, after another woman slunk in, stood glaring at the proceedings and later added her obfuscations, I was able to discern that your office only "estimated" my insurance coverage, and that I would be credited any difference once you parsed out what would be covered and what wouldn't. At one point, the receptionist pointed to a line (Prevident) and said, "I know they won't pay for that."

Atmosphere is excellent. They make you feel very comfortable and relaxed. You get to see your x-rays on a copmputer screen when they are talking about your teeth. Great technology. Assistants and front desk very knowledgeable and friendly.

I have been using Dr. Sweeney's office for about 5 years. Always great service, advice. Great for the kids. They really take good care of you. They have all of the latest technology and keep all of your dental records, x-ray, everything in a computer so it can be retrieved while sitting in the chair. Only con, they are not on my preferred dentist list for my insurance company. My company provides a health care account that I use to pay for the non-insured amount so it still doesn't cost me much, but I have to submit the claim and pay the remainder up front.

Dr. Sweeney and his staff are wonderful. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. The office is beautiful and there is someone who gives hand massages to the patients. The patients also get to wear a heated massaging pad around their neck. The technology is modern and there are lots of free goodies for the patient. So far this is the only dentist in Austin I have been happy with. None of the others even came close to the great experiences my child and I have had with Dr. Sweeney.

I was one of Dr. Sweeney's first patients, when he opened his first practice near the University of Texas, and even when he was young and new, he was the best dentist who has ever peered into my mouth. Back in 1982, he replaced a crown on one of my molars. He recommended some of the new porcelain materials that were then state-of-the-art. I'm happy to say that the crown lasted over twenty years, until I chipped it somehow. I think it cost me $250 at the time. Money well spent! He also did some resin bonding to my front incisors, with excellent cosmetic results. The bonding lasted for many, many years before eventually yellowing (which he said would happen). After I moved from Austin, another dentist replaced the bonding with porcelain laminates, which have been beautiful, but which have not been nearly so durable as the work Dr. Sweeney did for me. I wish I were still an Austin resident, because he is one of the professionals I dearly miss. And by the way, other dentists have spoken highly of the work he did on my mouth. Highly recommended!
