I heard about Dr. Winchester and liked that he had a no fluff office and good reviews. I tend to care less about all the fancy junk and more about a competent dentist that can get the work done at a fair price and whose work holds up. I have paid high prices for dental work that was sub-standard. I have felt like I am more of a car or house payment than a patient and can honestly say that more harm has been done in those office - for top dollar!! I was about to lose hope when I read about Dr. Winchester. He is exactly what I have been looking for - a competent dentist! Wow!

About Front Desk: Oh my gosh!! Tammy is a delight! Talk about a capable and informed front desk lady - how often have you heard that about a front desk person in a dentist office?! This lady was so kind and patient and friendly! She is knowledgeable about procedures and takes care of business for both the staff AND the patients. She went above and beyond for our needs! I have a new dentist with a grand staff! So happy!!!!

About Hygienist: Kim is terrific!! She is VERY GOOD at what she does. She is pleasant and sets about her job and follows through. She talked a little while cleaning my teeth but, was not one of those chatter box people. It was more like an old friend cleaning my teeth! I found it to be pleasant and relaxing! She just knows her stuff!! And my teeth were cleaned the way I like it - thoroughly!!!

Hygiene time: 30

My Experience: Exam & Consultation, X-Rays

Duration: 20 minutes

I have been extremely difficult to numb. I don't know why and hence the reason I was shopping around for a new dentist. I explained this to Dr.Winchester. I experienced extreme pain while the doctor tried to numb me to the point where I was in tears. Neither the doctor nor the hygienist attempted to provide any comfort, but just stated that I needed a "happy pill" in the future. The doctor walked out of the room with no words of comfort knowing that I was at a point of a break down because of the pain and tears rolling down my face and not a word from him. As I sobbed, NOT A WORD. I never like to think this way, but was it because I was non Caucasian? The hygienist had no words of comfort either. I guess she would not want to deviate from the Boss' ethics. She finished her job and left the room with barely any instructions. I am in pain now from a poorly fitted temporary crown and I'm frighten to call back to get it adjusted. I'm in a pickle and don't know how to get this resolved.

About Front Desk: No problems.

About Hygienist: Poor. Not responsive to the needs of the patient.

Would not recommend to anyone. Office is a hot mess and the front desk looks like a tornado hit it (never seen a healthcare professional who had a desk look like that). Dr. Winchester didn't even touch me, took 2 x-rays and referred me to a specialist. He explained absolutely nothing to me about the antibiotics or what needed to happen next and instead his tech/receptionist told me to take the antibiotics ASAP to relieve the pain. Because he didn't bother to talk to me and get my history, the antibiotics he prescribed were worthless and I spent 5 days in excrutiating pain that no living being should ever have to pursue. He acted like I was a burden to him and I was shopping for pain killers. His office also charged me a fee when my insurance clearly shows I shouldn't have had to pay anything out of pocket for his 2 measely X-Rays.

Recently I have had my wisdom tooth removed, first I had to wait 45 minutes for him to see me and after the dentist numbed me. I started to get dizzy and was on the verge of passing out. Although he did not ask for me to come back in for a following check-up to make sure that everything was fine around the area where the extraction took place, I made one because I have been having a lot of pain where he took the tooth out at.(Not sure if it is exposed nerve or what) But after making my appt yesterday that was for today at 4:00pm. The lady at the front desk told me after waiting 35 minutes (4:35) that since I called her today and made the appt I'll be having to wait longer because they could squeeze me in today.. But I made it yesterday. And after me getting a little upset with her asking when the dentist can see me, she walked into the back, shut the door, and shut the window to the front desk and I was left alone in the waiting room, once again. So after that experience I got up and walked out since I had already been waiting for now over an hour for someone to help me. I would not recommend this doctor to one of my enemies. If that gives y'all a hint on how upset I was with this so called health specialist.

Dr. Winchester has an extremely poor bedside manner. He does not even attempt to make his patient feel at ease. His office staff is highly disorganized at best and downright incompetent at worst. All in all, our visit to Winchester's office was very uncomfortable. We will not go back.

My wife and I went there several years ago for a cleaning. It was the only time I have actually had some pain associated with teeth cleaning. They used a water pick type of device. MMy wife was highly ticked off from the cleaning procedure that caused pain to her gum line area. We have not been back.
