Dr. Drum, who I know had an illness and was no longer able to practice, was a 5 star dentist! I was referred to him by a top level, high-priced dentist in Bethesda. I knew that they taught together at Georgetown Dental School. When I went to Dr. Drum, I was surprised that this office was so meager. And I later found that the staff was never good. And that was a shame. But it was worth it to have Dr. Drum as a dentist, not only for his skill, but also because he was a very kind, caring person. I had a lot done over the years and when i would be out of town, and visit another dentist, i often found them impressed with the work he had done, often figuring something "out-of-the-box" to make my difficult situation work. After Dr. Drum became ill, I went to big names in dentisty in the Washington area. One, a high-priced, highly rated one would say how difficult my case was, but I knew if I were still with Dr. Drum, he would solve the difficult problem. And to disagree with another post, crowns were well placed and perfectly matched. I wish he were still in practice!

About Front Desk: Dr. Drum unfortunately never had good staff! A shame!

I always found his personal style to be very understanding, empathetic. He seemed knowledgeable about dental options. He was conservative in his treatment style (at least with me), in that he would postpone treatments that he believed could be put off. I originally came to him for a problem that had baffled two previous dentists. Dr. Drum asked a few questions that the other dentists did not, then correctly diagnosed and treated the problem. (The treatment was simple once he figured out the problem.) I found his rates to be very reasonable.

About Hygienist: The old, long-time hygenist, Maria, was wonderful. However, she left the practice a few years ago and they've had a series of other folks in the interim. Most of these have been better than average, as compared with many of the hygenists I had had before I came to Dr. Drum.

Dr. Drum has left his business location with no regard for his patients, leaving no phone message as to his whereabouts or circumstances. His phone is disconnected. Scheduled appointments were not notified of his departure. No notice is posted on the trashed office. Talk about professional.

He replaced a crown and did a HORRIBLE job. I'm going to have to get my new replacement crown replaced by a different dentist, one that can do crowns, for a total loss of about $1000 out of pocket.

Dentist was very nice and friendly, but facilities were unpleasant. The equipment seemed like it was from the 60s and did not appear very sanitary. Though the dentist and hygenist were nice and knowledgeable, I did not feel at ease.

Dr. Drum is very nice - makes you feel very relaxed. He advises everything that he does...right down to the amount of discomfort you'll feel - which he's always accurate. You get the feeling from Dr. Drum that he really cares about your situtaion/teeth. His front desk staff are hit and miss on friendliness - but overall I recommend Dr. Drum to anyone looking for a dentist.
