I suffered from tetracyline staining and very weak enamel. Dr. Nocera gave me a Hollywood-Celebrity Smile. I was very scared and the entire staff helped me feel at ease. It was a very pleasant experience that has changed my life. I will recommend Dr. Nocera to everyone I know! Happy in Carlsbad! Lisa

I came in the office and was offered a piece of chocolate tort cake - Kinda like a cardiologist having a McDonnald's in his lobby. I then waited 1-1/2 hours to see the dentist for 10 minutes, when he told me that I would have to come back two or three times to have my work done, in addition to going to an endodontist. It seemed they had no respect for my time. I did not go back.

Reasons for negative review:
- One of the front desk girls is very sweet spoken but charged us $40 twice for a numbing procedure that was covered 100% by Delta Dental DPO, our insurance. We were also charged a "finance charge" of $70.60. We should have never paid any of the money in the first place (our mistake); they didn't have the right to charge us. It took 4 1/2 months to get the $150.60 back from them.
- I was also turned off by Dr. Nocera's chair-side manners; He did not introduce himself even when I told him we had not met before; I had to ask who he was (hygienist vs. dentist). Also, when he started to put something from a syringe in my mouth I asked "what's that?" at least twice before he answered me, and when he finally did he said "phosphoric acid". When I was speaking to him afterwards his response to one of my comments was "No shit!".
I will never go back to his office, and I definitely do not recommend his office to others. If you see him, make sure you know what your insurance covers (don't trust the front desk), and be prepared for the atmosphere to be so laid back that it is unprofessional.

When Dr. Nocera entered the examination room, he didn't even introduce himself. I had some cavities to be taken care of. This would be my 1st filings ever. I had two teeth done. After the procedure, I had intense pain in my gum. I waited 2 days before I called the office. When I called the office, I informed the receptionist of my pain, and gave her my name. She put me on hold to ask the doctor, when she came back on the phone, she told me that my gums have been cut, leading to the pain, I was appauled, and told her to cancel my next appointment and hung up the phone. A few minutes later, she called to apologize, because she had given me information for a different client, she acted as though she didn't know who she was speaking to!! This office is not professional, they don't take their work seriously!

Dr. Nocera replaced a broken crown for me. Procedure was very successful -- new crown feels better than any I've ever had. Very friendly, pleasant staff -- although note that one hygienist is pretty rough. Great experience.
