I wouldn't do any more general dentistry with Dr. McLachlin. He may be a fine prosth., but I would, and have, found a dentist with more up-to-date methods, equipment, etc. I'm not a dental expert, but think that some of the results I had with him were less than should be expected. Plus, his numbing of my lower jaw resulted is the one instance (out of 20 or so) in which I felt that a nerve had been damaged, both by the pain of injection and lasting numbness/tingling in my tongue, which went away after a couple of weeks, thank goodness.
On confronting him with my concerns, I found him to be unnecessarily defensive and unwilling to take responsibility for a mistake. We parted on very bad terms.
Just a note that one should be careful about angering dentists. They have a tight clique and you may have difficulty getting further treatment from other dentists who are competent and well-established. All that matters, I suspect, is that you had a complaint.
