Dr. Matt convinced me I needed a crown when I had come to him to replace a filling. The crown was a disaster. Pain. Misery. Had to go to anther dentist for damage control. Then had to get a root canal. He and his incompetent assistant destroyed my tooth, and I believe all I needed was a new filling. He was also arrogant and his staff was patronizing. Very unprofessional, and horrible experience.

About Front Desk: Unorganized, patronizing, and incompetent. Sold me a teeth whitening kit and I paid for it but it just never came in. By the time it did I had already gone to another dentist to have them fix the terrible work he did. They expected me to collect their kit, which came months later. Had to ask numerous times for a refund.

Illegally placed a gum build up in my 12 yr old daughters mouth. My daughter was due to have braces at another orthopedic surgeon and so the buil ups were removed and. Letter was mailed from the orthodontist explaining this procedure was completely incorrect for a littl girl who still had baby teeth. Not sure if this decision was done for money or his huge ego. After a month, this dentist placed them back in my daughters mouth. There will be a malpractice lawsuit filed as soon as it is possible. My daughter was scheduled for braces.Just waiting on a court order right now.

Unprofessional and hostile staff. Routine teeth cleaning on the high end of fee scale. This doctor is arrogant with no regard to customer service suggesting treatments that are unnecessary and costly. Treatment fee is collected at the time of service. I was told all dentist operate this way (they don't). It's been over a month and still no refund. After repeated calls for someone to call me back in regards to insurance filing, I've yet to receive the refund. It wasn't filed with my insurance until the 16th day and only because of my inquiries. Once I was able to speak to someone, Mia - very argumentative and unprofessional insisted it was my insurances fault. It wasn't - they didn't file it.

About Front Desk: Mia is who I spoke to and hands down the most unprofessional health care point of contact person I've ever encountered. Insurance filing was a total failure & still waiting on a refund check 35+ days.

Dr. Shane Matt is also a part of Authentic Smiles This review is based on my wife's experience with Dr. Shane Matt in summer 2013. The process after seeing Dr. Matt required root canals by oral surgeons to fix his work - work that we believe was unnecessary. Dr. Matt's recommendations and then dealings afterwards to correct his work were extremely upsetting to us. The lowlights are: -He suggested work that we now believe was unnecessary, and never suggested by previous dentists (replacement of "old fillings" with no issues or symptoms present - my wife did one side of her mouth and ended up having to have 2 root canals after Dr. Matt's work. He put on new crowns, she was in pain and could not chew for weeks, he could never fix it with adjustments and, come to find out, she needed two root canals on those teeth). -The work was suggested as urgent, as if "who knows what's lurking under those old fillings"; this was no longer urgent once they found out she was pregnant and wanted to wait to do the other side, and then that the replacement of the one side of "old fillings" had gone awry --- painful, throbbing, inability to chew, etc. -He said that the need for root canals was due to "decay" although his dental assistant raved

Avoid this man and his practice like the plague. It is very apparent that they are only out for your money--if you don't believe me, see for yourself. This place is a train-wreck. Greedy, lousy work, and moody doctor. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

crown over adjusted by this dentist and caused burr marks so doesnt know what he is doing - caused tmj problems because this dentist doesnt take the time to properly diagnose so causes more problems and seems very rushed and very unfocused. this dentist is terrible and does not return emails relating to the problems he caused so unresponsible. appears by website and emails he is more focused on music then focusing on his patient dental care.

Dr. Matt did a fantastic job on my veneers. The cost was a tad high, perhaps, but the quality of the workmanship is superb. Dr. Matt has a wonderful chair-side manner and has a very pleasant and capable staff. He is a perfectionist and will not be satisfied with anything but the highest quality results. Dr. Matt specializes is cosmetic dentistry so you'll still need a "family" dentist for regular check-ups and cleaning. Months after doing my veneers, I developed an absess in one of the teeth. My regular dentist suggested a root canal. Dr. Matt felt that I would be better served by an implant. It turned out beautifully despite some complications to the bone caused by the absess. Terrific job. The current offices are very nice but he will be moving to a new office in downtown Austin soon. He plays Austin-type Americana music from KGSR in the offices and it makes for a very laid-back atmosphere. They handled all my insurance claims OK but did make one minor mistake which they rectified to my satisfaction. I wasn't offered anything like nitrous oxide or special goggles to ease my tension but I did not ask for any; I'm sure he has things available if you need them. Overall, I can highly recommend this dentist!
