Dr. Kowalski is a great dentist! The only problem is that he used to be in a beautiful office on Lake Murray and then he moved into an office on El Cajon Blvd with another dentist about 2 yrs ago and it's not nearly as nice and all of Dr. Kowalski's Admin people eventually left - including the hygienist!

About Hygienist: Well, I loved Kathleen but she's no longer there :(

I know this doctor: 5+ yrs

He is a good dentist but unfortunately he left his beautiful office and moved in with another dentist not too far away on El Cajon Blvd. The area is not very nice, the office is not very nice and Vickie (the receptionist) and Kathy (the best hygenist that I've ever met) both left... :(

About Hygienist: They are very nice but I miss Kathy! If anyone reads this and knows where to find her - please email sdpiratequeen at hot mail dot com. Thanks!

I know this doctor: 5 yrs?

I have been going to Kowalski for several years.....since he took over my previous dentist's practice. I should have left him years ago but I was too lazy and never really needed major work done....just cleanings. You get the feeling that their focus is $$$$$$$$$. Kowalski's staff seems to change all the time so I assume he doesn't pay them very well. Also you have to be careful as they try to push you to get work done that may not be necessary.......as I found out after getting a second opinion following one suggestion to have a filling replaced. As another example, I had been going there regularly for years when all of a sudden they claimed I had three or four teeth that needed crowns.......maybe they wanted to pay down their mortgage? The final straw was when I went to him with a toothache.....the x-ray showed nothing so he put me on anti-biotics.......naturally the infection came back a month later even worse......ended up with a root canal ........my endodontist said using antibiotics was the worst thing you could do........ I am now motivated enuf to find a new tooth blacksmith.....

I went to Dr. Kowlaski as a new patient needing a cleaning and exam, during the exam he indicated that I had 5 cavaties and that I needed to have a treatment called scaling and root planing. Which is for people who have bad gingivitis. As a 20 year old female who has never had any major dental problems I found this to be extreme, so I went back to my dentist back home and he only found two cavities needing filling and didn't see gum problems justifying a scaling and root planing procedure. I also found him to be lacking the confidence necessary for me to feel at ease with his skills. I felt as though he was nervous just being there talking to me about the procedures. In addition to all of that I had gone in with a flyer indicating that once I paid the hundreds of dollars for the cleaning and exam I would receive a free tooth whitening which after all never happened, they said they were going to make a mold for the whitening, but that never happened and I never received the whitening after all.

Dr. Kowalski is a nice man. However, he is incapable of hearing his patient. If you want drugs, go here. I had a tooth that needed a crown and a root canal. The root canal was not even mentioned, I was left in pain for a month, even after calling three times about extreme pain. I was given pain meds and told to wait three weeks for things to calm down. When it was time to deliver the crown I was in so much pain it was impossible to be numbed, and I had a bad infection. After the root canal, the crown was delivered with MINOR adjustment to my bite. Weeks later, after constant pain, I returned to have the crown adjusted. It was ground down round, no points. After waiting a week for the pain to subside, it continued, and worsened. I attempted to call the Dr. for advice on the next steps. My call was never returned. Dr. kept saying that I have gum disease, needed a deep cleaning. Hygenist told me my gums had all healthy numbers. Upon returning to the office to retrive all my x-rays, the x-ray taken at the Endodontist office was not included, neither was the follow up letter. Today I went to a different dentist who adjusted my VERY HIGH crown, feeling much better now. That cost $138 out of my pocket, thanks Dr. Kowalski

Unfortunately I only saw Dr. Kowalski once since they require customers to pay up front and be reimbursed by insurance. I don't think that dentists should make the customer come up with the money up front when they have insurance. He did seem very competent and nice, as did his staff and the office was very nice, (if a little bit like an assembly-line with the many treatment pods.)

Dr. Kowalski is a very patient and caring person. He listent to me and explained everything in detail. He talked to me for a while and made me feel less anxious and I really appreciated his efforts. He took me in the same day I called, because I was in pain and even without medical insurance the expenses were affordable. If you are not comfortable going to the dentist or you are even afraid, he is the right person to go to, because he listens and tries to understand.
