Pros: Good location, friendly staff, good work, knowledgeable dentist, minimal waits, Urich seems to be a good dentist.
Cons: Always selling the latest fad, costs always tend to be above what is approved by insurance. Communication: no follow up on billing, insurance, etc...
Summary: Good dentistry skills but feel like I'm on a used car lot.
About Hygienist: Tend to be fairly steady. I think I've had 2 in the last 5+ years.

Dr Urich and staff are amazing. i always cringe when I think of going to the dentist but after leaving his office I think that i worried for nothing. He really puts the patient at ease and cares about the comfort and well being of his patients. His staff is knowledgable and great. I always measure dentists by how they treat their staff. He is patient and kind to them. I love this dentist and would pay top dollar for him. I have been to cheap dentists in the past and Dr Urich is repairing the damage!

I moved to Solana Beach two years ago and have been to Dr. Urich's office for five visits. Each time I've left, I've been thrilled with his dental knowledge and expertise, the professionalism and friendliness of his staff, the most technologically advanced equipment I've seen, and the spa-like comfort during my time there. Dr. Urich is kind, gentle, lighthearted, and takes my dental health seriously. I couldn't be more impressed and I recommend his office with the highest regard.
About Hygienist: I have worked with several different hygienists and each one has gone "above and beyond". They have thoroughly addressed even the most minor of my concerns, prepared me for the treatments, and made my time in the chair entirely pleasant and comfortable (massage chair and flat screen TV with a billion channels). I know it sounds crazy, but I actually look forward to visiting the dentist!

He is the most christian person I have ever encountered in the dental profession. He is dedicated, warm, charismic, loving, concerned and involved with your problems. His fees are not exorbitant and his staff is caring and they remember you....I can give no higher praise to this wonderful man who has dedicated his life to dentistry and the problems that are involved. Two years ago Dr. Urich installed crowns on two of my molars and filled a cavity. Both crowns failed within one year. On one tooth the crown fell off due to extensive decay under the crown. That tooth had to be extracted. The other tooth also had decay under the crown requiring a root canal and new crown. The new work done on my teeth was done by a different dentist.
Also, Dr. Urich is a high pain kind of dentist. While working on each of the teeth I felt a lot of discomfort and sometimes pain. For example, when he was setting the crown on one of my lower jaw molars he used his thumb to push down on the crown while I had to clench my jaw muscles to prevent him from ripping my jaw off. My jaw was sore for a month after that visit (my last visit to his office). Every other dentist sets crowns by having the patient bite down on a chunk of cotton between their teeth. That visit made me seriously wonder if Dr. Urich ever attended dental school.
The dental assistant and front desk people were very friendly, but they were the only part of my visit to Dr. Urich's office that was enjoyable.

Office staff is very friendly. Remembers your name. Very personable. Dr. Urich is up on all the latest trends and technology including zoom tooth whitening. He is very gentle and laid back, yet provides you with the appropriate amount of information to make an informed decision. If you decide to wait (ie. tooth whitening, mouth guard, dental work, etc.), he doesn't pressure you. He was very gentle with my 3 year old and actually does the cleanings on his pediatric patients until as old as 10 years old. He is thorough but quick and takes both the kid's cues and also the mothers. If a child isn't ready for something, he backs off.
His costs are consistent with other dentists in the area. They accept most dental insurances and cash services.
